NZIM Certificates

For the following qualifications your results will normally be recorded with NZIM by your course provider:

NZIM Certificate in Management

NZIM Certificate in Language, Culture and Management

NZIM Small Business Entrepreneurs Programme

NCEA results and claiming credits

NZIM is in discussion with NZQA with regard to recording NCEA credits.
At present, NZQA only record unit and achievement standard based qualifications on the students record of learning. NZIM courses, along with Cambridge International Exams and International Baccalaureate and other well recognised qualifications, do not appear on the result notice students receive from NZQA and are not listed on the NZQA Record of Learning.

Although NZQA do not record these 'other' qualifications, the NZIM Certificate in Management papers are recognised for credit inclusion into the NCEA Level 2 or 3 Certificates.  Each paper is worth 10 credits.  See the attached letter that accompanies the Statement of Achievement (NZIM's Result Notice) which explains the credit inclusion process that needs to be followed.

Basically, if a student is short of credits to be awarded their NCEA Level 3 Certificate, they need to contact their school (Principal's nominee) and ask them to send the appropriate documents to NZQA to apply for the credits on their behalf.  As mentioned, NZQA will only accept applications for credit inclusion where students do NOT have sufficient unit or achievement standards to be awarded their NCEA Certificate.

The following NZQA link also specifies the 10 credit equivalents for NZIM papers, and may be useful for your dealings with universities or other tertiary institutes you may wish to further your studies with. http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/ncea/acrp/secondary/7/nzim-certinmgmt.html

University Entrance

NZIM Certificate in Management courses may provide 14 level 3 credits in a third approved subject area, as long as students have gained literacy and numeracy and other entry requirements in two other approved subjects.  Universities may then consider students to have reached the university entrance standard and they may be admitted ad eundem statum at entrance level.

Attached is a copy of a letter from the Vice Chancellors Committee, which provides further information on entry to University.  It may be useful for students to provide a copy of this letter, along with their NZIM Statement of Achievement, to the University they are applying to study at.

If students don't qualify for guaranteed admission to a University course through the 'rank score' or other pre-determined process, then students should identify themselves as 'non-standard' for university entrance, and apply through the Admissions Advisor or equivalent.

NZIM Diplomas

You need to check with your provider about reporting your results for the diploma programmes with NZIM.  Providers that have an agreement with NZIM to offer the programmes will normally report the results directly to NZIM.  This is in addition to reporting the results to NZQA as part of the NZ Diploma in Business.

Many students need to register their diploma results directly with NZIM.  Download the form below and send it in together with a copy of your results notices and payment for the appropriate amount ($30 per paper including GST).

If students have completed the requirements for the previous 8 paper version of the NZIM Diploma in Management, please contact National Office to see if you are still able to register results.
