Regional Offices

The Institute functions as a decentralised regional Organisation with central secretariat and support. This structure provides a high degree of responsiveness to local needs, while preserving the efficiencies of centralised resources and leadership.

Members of NZIM are members of their local region. These regions are strongly established as Northern, Central and Southern. Each region has its own Board and management executive responsive to its members, and maintains services and support to meet local needs.

The National Office is in Wellington, and manages and administers the formal NZIM Management Qualifications. It also provides central support and co-ordination for the regions acting together on national projects or issues.

Management education is a key role of the Institute, and as a primary function at both regional and national levels.

Each region maintains a comprehensive programme of short courses, ranging upwards from a half-day seminar for supervisory staff to residential concentrated courses for senior management. The demand is such that many courses are repeated several times over the course of a year, enabling organisations to have their entire staff trained by professional instructors within a reasonable time frame,

Programmes are revised and updated each year, and full details are available from your regional office. Within those programmes you will discover a comprehensive structure of training of both specific and general nature, each designed for a particular level of current management or supervisory positions.

While all of these management development programmes are open to the public, members of the Institute receive concessions on course fees. Many companies recognise the quality of training provided by the Institute's instructors, and are able to enjoy the same concessions as Individual Members through their Corporate Membership.

The National Office manages and co-ordinates the courses of study provided by Polytechnic Institutes which lead to the awarding of the Institute's formal national qualifications.

Please note that the regional websites can be accessed from the home page.
